Good Product, but has some drawbacks, January 28, 2010 By Val "the cookie fairy" (Texas) - See all my reviews This review is from: Waterbed Heater-Hardside (Kitchen) I have the Thermal Guardian Touch Temp Digital Waterbed Heater. The Product Details for this product don't tell you which model this is and there isn't a close-up for the heater control so you can see what the model is or how you will control the temperature. My heater works well, except for one thing. My house is old and has very little insulation, so it tends to be chilly in the winter. The Thermal Guardian heaters profess to keeping the temperature to within 1/8 of a degree of the set temperature. That's fine if your house isn't chilly, but when it is the heater warms to the set temperature and then turns off. The chilliness of the room cools the water enough for the heater to come back on and thus the heater continues to turn off and on several times per second indefinitely. The only way to stop it is to turn the heater off or change the desired temperature a couple degrees and once it reaches the new setting you have to change it again. Timely shipping and easy install, January 30, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Waterbed Heater-Hardside (Kitchen) Our old heater quit on us in the coldest part of the winter. Those of you who are waterbed owners know that a cold waterbed in the winter months is not a good thing. We were glad to find a merchant on Amazon with the product we needed. It shipped within a week and we were able to quickly and easily replace the old heater unit with this one. Then we were back to comfortable nights once again.

According to the website, I was under the impression that it would not be shipped prior to 1/24 (the following Monday) and would take at least 3-5 business days for it to arrive. I was not happy, but this was the fastest delivery I could find. Imagine my surprise when I went to the mailbox Saturday 1/22 and found the heater sitting in the bulk box! That was a full two days before I expected it to be shipped and only two days after I placed the order! Let's be fair, it was less than 48 hours, closer to 36 hours would be like it.
Now, if I could simply convince the other four companies to act so rapidly I would be a happy man. No, not for me, but for the disabled person I take care of. He spends many hours in bed each day--approximately 12-14--simply because he has so much trouble sleeping. In a regular bed he would be tossing and turning all night, and would end up with bed sores.
